Chaperone Policy

Chaperone Policy at Whitley Road Medical Centre

At Whitley Road Medical Centre, we are committed to ensuring that all our patients feel safe, comfortable, and respected during their consultations and examinations.

What is a Chaperone?

A chaperone is a trained member of staff who is present during a consultation, examination, or procedure to provide support, reassurance, and protection to both patients and healthcare professionals.

When Can I Request a Chaperone?

You can request a chaperone at any time during your appointment, especially if your consultation involves an intimate examination. Our clinicians may also request a chaperone to be present.

How to Request a Chaperone

  • If you would like a chaperone, please inform the reception team when booking your appointment or speak to your clinician during your consultation.

  • If a chaperone is not immediately available, we may need to reschedule your appointment to accommodate your request.

Our Commitment to Patient Dignity

We prioritise patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality. All chaperones at our practice are trained in their role and understand the importance of professional boundaries and confidentiality.
